    Cell Phone Deterrent???

I don't know if anyone has heard of this before, but I just read that they designed a paint with nanotube technology, that can be "turned on and off" to block incoming/outgoing wireless signals. So they can basically tell you when you can and can't use your cell phone/wireless device if you are on their property.

Check out This Link to the United Press International.

Maybe this type of paint can be used in hospitals, airplanes etc. where they want cell phones turn off. But to be used in a concert hall or a movie theatre, I would say no way. What would do in a small town and the only doctor on call?? etc. etc. This is mindblowing that they can even control the airwaves but who owns them anyhow? Certainly not the people. Maybe the government BUT definately BIG business!!!!!!!!!

Call me old fashioned but I don’t think cell phones should be allowed in Schools either. It is distracting kids from learning.

I seen on the news that kids were cheating on tests and exams using conference calling with video enabled phones.

It is a problem that is for sure.

My son is 10 and he has begged for a cell phone cuz " all his friends have one"

Why does a 10 or 11 year old need a cell phone. What is wrong with these parents. LOL

They say so they can locat their kids, WOW I always know where my son is. With out a cell phone.

I never take my phone to school either... just saying, if I had some sort of after-school event, it would be nice.

When my son/daughter ( don't know which yet ) is 10-11 years old, I won't need a cell phone or a pager to locate them. He/she won't be far enough away to warrant anything other than a good holler. Kids that age are still supposed to be at home.

I do suppose that the cheating students could actually be considered smart for coming up with the idea in the first place.

It really doesn't seem right to me, but seeing as the call would be originating from the property of the hall/theatre it would make sense that they would want to control it if they have the power to. Same as the child who only wants a cell phone because "everyone else does"

I didn't get a cell phone til 8th grade - my parents gave it to me so they could stay in touch with me while I was in Washington DC with the 8th graders.

That I would probably do for my son if he was going out of state with a school trip.
