playback problems

Hi Everyone,
I have recently experienced some playback problems with some discs backed up using shrink and nero. The problems are lock-ups or pixilation usually a 1/2 hour or more after playback begins. Some discs which were burnt over 6 months ago have just started to do this which is a worry. I have done a search and found some possible answers to my problems but just wanted some opinions or advice on the way I back up discs. I use TDK DVD-R 1-8X discs and have been burning at 6X which from what I have read may be part of the problem as a lot of people seem to say that 4X is more reliable. I also play discs in a PS2 which some people have determined can be a problem. The burner I have is a Pioneer dvr-109 and the firmware is 1.4. I tried to update it to 1.57 and I get an error saying available target not found. I am sure the destination folder is correct but I must be doing something wrong or stupid (more likely).

Use better media,
Dont use lables,

If the DVD's are 8X try to burn them at 4X

In most cases, reduce the burning speed would solve the issue. It's also recommended that turn off the anti-virus software and other applications which might access the CD/DVD units at the same time. If it still doesn't work, try anther brand of DVD media.

If you are burning automatically from Dvd Shrink to Nero, uncheck it & burn manually. Please post your last Nero burn log, program files / ahead / Nero / history. It will be the last one as Nero just keeps adding logs to the list.

Thanks soup, here is the log. I cut out a heap of code that was saying Queue Again Later as you will see. Does that have something to do with leaving the computer sitting there for a while with the disc ejected and the backup complete message on the screen?
