How to stop downloading

My wifes sister is always using limewire to download what can i do to stop her from doing this? what program or setting can i get or change to stop certain sites from being allowed on my computer that is password protected?

the best way is to confront her since its your pc and you/your wife should be in control of net traffic.

easiest way imho is block it in your firewall settings (and set it up so it blocks all unauthorized applications attempting to access the net) and create a password for that

another (assuming your OS is xp); set a password to the main account on the pc. create another account, set it to "limited".

now she can only log in with the limited account-- she cannot install anything, you can deny all access to folders/files of your choosing, etc. but if she's pc savvy there are ways around it.

99% of the content on file sharing apps such as limewire is illegal, leaves your PC open for attacks, spware/adware/virii

the limited or guest approach is best since she can't execute any dangerous downloads, if an account like that gets messed up, just delete it and create another

after creating a limited account you could just delete any link to limewire if it still even works

@drf - it doesn't matter if there's nothing wrong with limewire. fryguy might even use it himself.

But his sister in law has no right to do this without permission.

it seems like most of the executables downloaded from limewire are trojans/malware/virii, at least that's what I am seeing on everyone's computer that's hosed when I try to fix them.

I am still waiting for them to figure out how to embed one in a mp3 or a video file

thanks for all your help and the main reason is that i have got a virus on there before and i really dont want to go through the trouble of fixing my computer again plus it fills up my computer with music i really dont listen too.
