Trying to re-author Lost.

You also do not have to drag the files over, if you just double clck on the title it will be transferred automatically.

If and when compressing the video try to keep it at 70% or above. You can also change the compression settings on the movie, which is what I do sometimes when I am backing up a full disc. If I find that the compression is not suitable I will click on the extra folder and choose custom ratio and then move the compression down until I get the results I am looking for on my main movie compression. You can adjust the compression on any title in the structure frame, so I will adjust them all if my main movie doesn't meet my requirements. I like to keep my main movie very high, but have found that 70% and above is suitable for most. Always run deep analysis when compressing, as this option will preview the entire DVD and decide the best places to compress.

Lost will drop below 70% but with the settings I showed you, you will get a good quality DVD. I burned a 2X.

As a general rule of thumb that is true however this is a TV show the quality wont be has high as most movies on dvd are. So you wont lose much.

Do you mind if i ask how many episodes you get per dvd. i am burning on 8x 4.7g dvd's.

When I backed up the first season I backed them up the way they were.

I didnt re-author them at all.

I would not recomend putting any more on a disc then what is on the disc the only one that has 6 episodes is the very first one of season 1

There are a total of seven disks, is that correct or am i thinking of something else. i seem to be having a monday.

If you plan to Re-Author to keep only the episodes themselves, I'm sure you could probably fit two discs into one. If the Shrink compression percentage is below 70% then maybe you could back-up the re-authored version to your hard drive using the Deep analysis and preview it with your playback software to see if the quality is acceptable to youand then burn to disc if you decide its OK.

I wouldnt recomend that at all.

you would have to shrink them 2 times then.


This is 8 episodes of Lost that were already compresses at 59.7%


With compression setting at 59% again you still cant fit it on one disc

You do realise each episode is an hour long right. You wont get 8 episodes on the discs with out problems and having to shrink them more then once.


The first 2 episodes were a bit shorter then the rest of them are. That is probably why they put 6 on the first disc.

I personally dont have Lost, but aren't most TV show DVDs with multi- episodes, less than an hour per episode?

Also, There is always the DualLayer option still on the table.
