I bought a new DVD/surround sound player. I have DVD's burned on Verbatim -R's and I used DVD decryptor and Nero to burn some and Shrink to burn others. They are all the same blank disks (from the same spindle). Some will play on the new player and some will not. They all play on the previous surround DVD player I had and all will play on my stand alone DVD recorder. If the new player had a problem with the type of disks I used wouldn't ALL of them not play? Not just some of them? Also some of the DVD's I recorded on the stand alone player do the same thing. Some will play on the new player and some will not. Again, they are all the same blank DVD's. What gives?

That link was to a post that I actually started when I bought a new brand of disks that were not working for me. I subsequently took those disks back. That is not the same problem I am having now.
I have not had any problems at all with the Verbatims until I bought this new player. What do you mean by "the details"?Comment

Here is a scan of another brand of disk that was recorded using my stand alone dvd recorder. Again, with this brand some play and some dont on the new player. As for storing the disks, they are stored in a (dark) cabnet in a dvd binder where there is very little humidity. My dvd recorder (in my pc) is about 1 1/2 year old and has burned in the neighborhood of 150 disks. Some of the ones that won't play are from when I first bought the dvd recorder.Comment

It is giving good burns. All the burns will play in one dvd player/recorder but it's hit and miss like I said with the newer one. What are the advantages of newer firmware? I'm always afraid to change something like that then potentially have even more problems.Comment
