I still don't know what I'm doing! please help

I am trying to burn a movie onto a DVD. It is on my hard drive and is an Avi file. I downloaded Avi2Dvd but there was no audiostream option so i was told to download VirtualDubMod to fix that. i did something to the file but I don't know what. I can't do what was suggested because that option isn't in the File drop down menu, i'm now even more confused than when i started. All the guides at the website videohelp.com which tell me how to use VirtualDubMod use other programs aswell. DO i have to download these aswell? I don't really want to have to download anything else. Somebody please help me....don't know what to do now.

Are you trying to conver .AVI to DVD?

If that is the case this is a guide that helped me to learn how to do this. I would sugest printing this out as I did and go through it step bystep.
