DVDshrink and Nero not starting

I use DVDshrink to create my movies for burning and then Nero to automatically burn to disk when it is done. This used to work, but when I got a new PC and reinstalled everything, DVDshrink just stops when it is done and does not launch Nero, even though I have the "burn with nero" option checked. Am I missing something?

Welcome to the Forum. Have you checked to see if you can use Nero at all on the new machine & if you can, which did you reinstall first, Nero or Dvd Shrink?

Since you have a new machine, you may have an updated version. What version did you have before? What do you have now?

Nero 6 version past 6.6.0.18 will not go auto from shrink to nero. Read this:

stacey60, King Kong is a long movie. If you tried to jam the whole thing on one DVD, you probably were at about 40%. I have found that anything compressed lower than 70 will have trouble playing.

jamoskeag3, I had version 6.6.0.18 and got exactly the "Error:\nCannot connect TRF" as described in the other message after I upgraded Nero on the new PC. I can go back to the old version I had, BUT I did the upgrade because my new piece of crap Dell becomes a useless slag heap when burning a DVD. The upgrade seemed to have helped it to be able to multitask. Any help on that?

On my old home-built PC, I never had those problems, but then nothing was integrated to the MOBO either.

I do not multitask while I am backing up dvd's.

follow soups advice about the worst thing you can do is multi task when backing up movies especially when on the burning stage

IMGburn is a great free program you may want to give it a try.

I suppose that's good advice now that I own a DELL, but it wasn't necessary on my good PC; I could burn and render 2 different movies at the same time and have Diskeeper defragging in the background without a problem, and that PC is 5 years old now.

Shoulda known better than to buy commercial, but it was so cheap I couldn't help myself...

you can open the classic view and drag both the video and audio on the right screen to the left to the video file, and it will burn that way with the new nero

That sounds like sarcasm, but it was a very capable system. Abit mobo and an OCed 2gHz celeron. When I was burning DVDs I couldn't feel it. With this PC (Dell B110), you literally can't do anything else while burning. That's after I formatted it to get rid of the 20G of crap it came bundled with.

You mean this new one? Its a 2.53 mHz with 512M ram. The old one was a 2mHz with 256M.
