    Good printer for refilling carts?

I am looking for a good printer that will easily accept refilled carts. Back in the old days, I used Lexmark, Epson, Xerox, etc... They all were fairly easy to refill. Epson had the chip reset, but that was no big deal.

It seems now that the carts are getting harder to successfully refill, at least the ones I am doing. Currently working with an HP 3820 that is difficult to get a quality refill with; after black cart refill, sometimes prints streaky or faint - followed the online guides about proper refilling/cleaning procedures, & still limited success.

It is "hit-or-miss". Color carts with this printer seem even worse to do. With the older printers, I didn't really have any issues. I know the Printer co. don't want us saving $$$ by refilling, so I guess the carts are designed to give a hassle like this.

I have several friends that experience the same issues, so I know it's not just my method of refilling; after all, it USED TO work just fine...

Any suggestions on which printers out there are refill friendly? I am also thinking about purchasing a CD/DVD printer, after watching White or Silver thread for awhile.

    thanks, katz

For using refilled cartridges you may want to stick with Epson they have generic smart chips that are compatable. I get cheap non epson ink that is better in quality then the epson ink. And they have them with the campatable smart chips.

some associates have a franchise ink and laser jet refilling business,
epson is way to go, they don't even bother with them hardly, the compatible cartridges are so cheap, HP makes the best printer and cartridge(easiest to refill) professionally.

Using the epson 820 as an example, why refill?

find the carttridges cheap, then buy the printer

Thats a good price too that ink is good but the G&G cartridges tend to cloge more then the OA100,

When I buy I buy in bulk and save more that way.

For that price though not a bad deal even if 2 or 3 of them clog.

            That store sells everythig! LOL

            Thanks for finding that!

I have two epson printers that use the same type of cartridges.
I pick up aftermarkets that are as good as epson for $40 a set (yes that's for seven).

Why the heck do I wanna get ink on my hands refilling a cartidge?

Epson R220 CD/DVD photo stylus ink jet printer.
Does not come with resetable ink tank chips. Six seperate ink tanks

www.printonadime has clear see thru ink tanks with automatic resetable chips when ink tanks are 90% empty. AND you can refill the ink tanks when they are in the R220. Never have to remove the ink tanks.

                    http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml.
When the ink pad is full and the printer shuts down, software program to reset the ink pad so the printer will continue to work. SSC Service Utility use it instead of the Epson R220 Service Utility

For them black and white cartriges, go and stock up on $.99 cent per 100 pack black ink pens, plenty of ink in there to refill a cartridge or two.

                      Here..I will fix it!

I have never replaced a cartridge. I just buy another printer with fresh ink, although Lexmark tends to be a bit skimpy with their OEM cartridges. I don't use alot of ink so I usually only replace printer twice a year and it is usually cheaper than replacing black and color ink cartridges. I do like the cheap ink pen idea though..

                          All good posts!

Thanks for the info. Looks like epson is the way to go. I have been buying refilled carts for my HP on ebay for around $10-$15 ea., shipped.

Altho it "seemed" to me that the refills didn't last as long as the oems'. That's the main reason I was refilling - I do a lot of printing... So, it looks like no one refills carts anymore...

I will be looking at the epsons for sure!

                            Refilling carts

                            I have a Cannon Pixma ip5200, which print CD & DVD's

The print quality is good and it works well but a bit slow. I have had success in refilling the carts, but you must seal the imput hole to stop airflow. I use celotape.

                            Hope this helps, Alan.

I cana't afford to buy cartridges for my Lexmark X83 anymore. I tried to refill them once but it didn't work. they just dribbled the ink out. If someone knew of a reliable refill method for this printer I wuld really appreciate it. I build a lot of paper models with my son and we go thru a lot of ink. This website is great for free paper models, some are really intense, most are 3 dimensional models, some are exceptional. http://www.spacestation42.com/toys.html
