video to gallery

hi all,

I'm not quite sure where to post this but this is my bet. I came here with a very techinal background. One of the things i was never good in was video editing/programming. I searched everywhere and i have failed to find a software that does my need. I need a software that i can input a video file and it will out put a gallery(list of images) pages for me.

since 1 second film consist of more than 20 frames/pictures this task is a very difficult one

it's difficult because you may want certain frames not ALL

Media Player Classic can output upto 8x8 images of a video. Output is a single image with the 8x8 images layed out in a grid with shadows, border, etc.. Could probably get php to take a video and output a gallery using I guess, ImageMagick which can read some video formats. mplayer can handle just about anything and output images.
