    transfering video with usb

I am trying to transfer my videos from my sony handycam to my computer. Whenever I plug it into the computer a pop-up states that this device would work faster with a faster usb connection. My computer says that the usb connectors on the front of the computer are (all 3) USB 2.0, but the pop-up still occurs. The back connectors are no different.

I also checked the device manager to see if I even had 2.0 and it says I do but I can't tell which port it is or if its even working.

Do you have a Firewire card? If not, that's the problem.

how do I check the transfer speed? Al I am doing is opening the folder in mycomputer for the camera and copying and pasting. I don't see a transfer speed.

And I'm not using a firewire cable...its a cable that came with the camera.

Do I still need a firewire card? If so, how do I check to see if I have one?
