Use epson printer that does printable discs .Stay far far away from sticky labels -
Lables dont work with DVD's
you would have to get a printer that prints to the disc.

So did I when I first started, thought they would look good. Bought the whole shooting match, labels & the stomper for centering them properly on the dvd. Even put a few on some blanks, (actually quite a few) figuring I would be good to go. Then read a couple of threads here on sticky labels, haven't used them. The whole kit is gathering dust in some drawer, I will stick with Sharpie.

I use the Epson R220, print directly on the disc. It does an awesome job! There may be better printers, but this one suits my needs.
The Print CD software that comes with it is easy to use, works flawlessly.
There are many threads on here stating as to why stick on labels are not the way to go.

Yes, if you want to buy lightscribe discs, which cost more. If you insist on having labels, katzdvd gave you the best advice as printable dvd's don't cost much more than regular ones. You will go through some ink though, but the results are great.Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed!Comment

About lightscribe discs, stay away too unless you want to replace your burner prematurely. The process takes a long time and is a LOT of work for your laser.
The Epson 220 is probably the way to go but then you have ink costs.
The sharpie marker is the way to go. BUT if this is REALLY important, then go the printer route. Labels are known to warp the disc as the glue dries. It warps from the inside ring to the outside ring. The disc becomes unreadable because the reading surface is at the wrong angle to reflect back to the reader.
NOTE: some people will swear by labels but it was the 2nd biggest mistake by me when I started. EDIT: I was able to peel them off.
The biggest was using cheap disks. I am now redoing that work. Oh well, I saved 5 cents a disc (at the time). I am now wasting at least an hour or more per DVD to recopy them to better media.Gary D

labels affect dvd disc playback
As others have posted when I first tried labels a few years ago I learned the hard way that you just can't use them no matter what the manufacturer says.
The Epson printer is great. I bought the R-300 two years before the r-220 was released and I have simply beaten it to death printing very high quality "labels" onto literally thousands of discs.
So for less than $90 you can buy a great little disc printer and create dvd labels that look 100% better than the original movie label.
Also like others posted for movies I just use a marker now - who cares what the disc looks like but for my personal edited programs I still like to spiff up the media with a custom label.
GoodLuck
