why aren't you using good media? scan at 4x with that burner

some good verbatim, you could just scan a few and be pretty safe

I bought some fuji's that burned like that, glad when they were gone

For the past 2 years I've been doing Nero PIE/PIF tests on all my burns.

You might want to try the new version of CD/DVD Speed

Buy some Verbatim or TY, you don't want burns like this.

I decided to try a 50 pack of Fuji +R and all the disks were fine. I then bought 100 pack and it's more problematic. I used to test at 4x then I read here that disk quality could decay. I decided then to keep copies of all the PIF tests so I could test disks in the years to come. I did some comparison tests between 1X 2X 4X etc and 1X seemed to provide the best chance of reproducing results.

Not sure what you're saying. Are you referring to the enclosed PIF test? Or to a file read test? I'm assuming in the latter ANY read error means the disk is trash.

I did come accross some rebranded TY disks once. They were OK as I recall but tests weren’t spectacular. I keep hearing about Verbatim... so maybe I'll track some down before I start transfering my home videos to DVD. Right now all I've started to do is transfer documentaries I once recorded off TV.

They likely weren't true TY if they tested poor.
