Can you shave off a few mbs???(Divx)

I've got a divx that is 717 mbs.. just to big to get onto a 700mb cd.. don't want to cut it in half... just want' to shave the beginning/end.. tried deleting frames in virtual dub.. reduced the filesize a treat.. but then.. 1st part of movie the visuals cocked up... the second half theres no sound... happened on more than 1 divx... Much wailing and nashing of teeth.......... I need aid!

    1. you could cut off the end credits entirely (should be some 15-50 mb or more)

    2. you could re-compress the end credits with a low bitrate like 350 to keep them but save an enormous amount of file-space.

    - load your file in virtualdub

    - mark the end-credits using the apropriate buttons and hit KEYFRAMES (if you dont know how to go about that, take a look at my guide).

    - save this end-sequence as separate file with audio set to direct stream and video FULL PROCESSING mode using 350 for codec bitrate

    - now save the other (huge part of your movie (i.e. your whole film WITHOUT end-sequence))

load the long part in vd, then select append and select the re-compressed part with your end-credits, select direct stream for both: vid + aud and save as.

    good luck

Yeah.. tried cutting off end credits.. using key frames in virtual dub.. this reduced larger file as required.. hte problem I keep getting is that the newly saved version has extremly slow picture streaming for the 1st half & no sound for the second... weird.. yes I am using the key frames for a cut & yes I am setting all to direct stream copy...

Cutting DIVXs in half works fine.. its just when I try shaving of the end I get trouble...

      Any ideas???

Here´s another way to solve the problem.

Try to burn the 714 MB on your 700 MB blank. Normally this is no problem (I tried about 750 MB - there are about 20 - 100 MB you can overburn - depends on the blank). I think your 14 MB should be no problem.
Here a little guide. I burn with nero. You only just have to change some settings. I have an german version of nero so I made some pictures of the settings - I think they are at the same place.
Choose File - Settings (I think so) - then go to expert settings-register card - set to 80 mins and try to burn.
Remember you have to use disc at once mode to overburn a CD.
        (see also files attached).
