Pearl Harbor

I have been divxing movies for about four months now with hardly any problems. I use Neodivx 5.1B and have had problems with only four movies. But none like this one. If you live in the United States then you know that Pearl Harbor Was released today. I went to wal mart and picked it up at midnight to get a start and thinking i could hand it out by the middle of the day today. I was wrong. I can get beautiful picture and syncronization, but the file size is enormous. I have all my settings correct and everythign. I am using the divx 4.0 final low motion codec and the file came out to be twenty megs below a gig. Thats unacceptable to me. The DVD is setup in a two disc set with three quarters of the movie on one disc and the other third on the second disc. I need help here. Can someone tell me what the deal is or even suggest another codec that may provide quality at 700 megs. Any help would be much apreciated and if anyone can help and shows it then i will send them a copy of the dvd rip i do of any movie they request promise. I have 305 movies right now. Well if anyone reads this and can help, then Thanks.

I think you might want to start looking at divx4.11 and 2-pass encoding, should give you better quality and filesize prediction.

and still PH should need at least 2 cds!

you will never be able to achieve reasonable quality on 700mb.

even the 2x 700 mb rips i've seen so far, were not what i'd go for myself.

In view of the fact that the movie is over three hours in length, it's unreasonable to believe that you could create a decent DivX that would fit on only one (albeit 700 Meg) CD.

I've got it now it was on two discs thats what i was trying to achieve. which i have done now. i figured out what my problem was. the bitrate was set too high. but i thank everyone for their replies and anyone who wants to see these rips just tell me. because they are far superior than what i thought they would be. thanks to everyone.
