I have Norton Internet Security 2006 30 day subscription. I had to reinstall, is there any way to get 30 days from today rather than what is left of the 3 days?

Not without being naughty.
Why not just go with AVG, Avast or one of the other freebies? I use Avast and Zone-Alarm and haven't had any issues with nasties.

Get a bargain NIS2006v in eBay then you are qualified for a free upgrade to 2007 from symantics . Uninstall and download the trial version again. It works with the full version to reset the timer.-----------------------------------------

I read some pretty crazy things about removing Intenet Security 2006. I used add/remove then went through my registry for anything Symantec and deletd it. Then downloaded from Symantec the removal tool from Symantec just to be sure. So far so good. I think I have 5 less programs running as a result. I was amazed at how many things Symantec would OK as far as firewall was concered. I like the fact that Sygate askes about everything so rules can be made. Media Center and windows media player seem to send packets most.Comment

yeah even me NIS2007 works good for me, got the add ons too. Its a shame they stopped Norton works because I like the tools there. I got NSW2006 in my Desk top running XP but not in Vista. I had AD-watch working with it in real time protection.-----------------------------------------

I thought Sygate was bought by Symantec?

Last year a poster had a 90 day subscription to 2006 and it was setup with full controls to protect her computer from changes, when the time ran out she removed it. She had to call dell for the reload disks since she couldn't burn cd's or make any changes. That program is like a loaded gun, handle it carefully and if you don't know what you are doing, stay far far away from it.Comment

Norton is just as bad as malware. Intrusive, difficult to remove completely and a performance hit. The last version I used was in 2001 (got it for free, 1 year subscription I think), it was also the last anti-virus app I ever used. Doesn't look like things have changed much.Comment

I've had so many problems with Norton Internet Security. One time it blocked my internet and then the updates always failed to download before installing. Symantec's help page as in Norton's on that topic made matters a lot worse where their help pages SUCK BIG TIME TO CAUSE A MAJOR PROBLEM. I wouldn't trust Norton to make a jam sandwich.
I've heard about a lot of weak spots in their Firewall, Their Anti-Virus NEVER scans the System Volume Information folder that can also contain a virus or viruses and their Spyware scan misses so many infections of Spyware it incredible. Norton Utilities also causes more errors than it detects while it fixes them and the Doctor goes idle forever after a while unless a fix job is done. My Doctor was always in the red and not helping me. What a foul-up. I read on the Yahoo news earlier this year about Norton with bad news but I found that all out for myself the hard way.
When you want to uninstall any Norton software, theirs traces of the softwares left behind and you need all kinds of removal tools to clear the crap out and they don't even name the removal tools with understandable titles. They name them with odd letters and numbers to make it all the more confusing so that you have to phone them. Their web site always has about eight links per page that sends you to the same page that's pointless and when you want to e-mail them they never have a title for an e-mail that matches your feedback.
As I said, I only like their Norotn Go Back and that's it...period. The rest of theirs is as useful as burning to ashes with a song.
NEVER GET NORTON INTERNET SECURITY. Save your money and your PC.

@locoeng
yes Sygate was bougth by Symantec then I think development stoped to force people to go with the Symanted product. It concerns me that there have been no further development of the Sygate firewall. I used it in the past with no problems on other PC's, so I will give it another go.
Everytime I would run ad-aware I would get 50 problems, Norton thought these were never problems as they were never picked up by Norton after a scan.Comment
