Its kind of hard to answer that question without knowing what format you want the output to be in:

Do you want to play the file on your computer only? - If so then one of the divx based process is for you. I would use GordianKnot for this.

Do you want to play the file on either your computer or tv - If so then making a VCD or SVCD would be the way to go. I would use DVD2SVCD for this.

        mac, he wanted AUDIO!

extract your audio from the dvd material by
        1. ripping the dvd to hdd, then
        2. use a tool like vob2audio (best quality imho)

output to either mp3 or wave or ac3 - completely up2u

Hi -- it's me again. I have succesfully ripped the dvd's. I tried using VOB2Audio but it says there is a file missing from the list. Any ideas?

Should I have encoded first before VOB2Audio or can I use VOB2Audio immediately after the ripping?

                  Appreciate the help...

I just got the missing file solved. Now I am using VOB2Audio. I can select the list but I am having difficulty selecting anything in the audiostream section -- it does not seem to offfer me any choices.

                    Any ideas?

no idea whats going wrong in your case, but alternatively you can use dvd2avi for audio extraction.

                      take a look here:

Are you sure you have properly configured your list file?

smartripper should have created the list file and does a good job.

i guess the ligos splitter is to blame.

maybe you should try the vob2audio version, that can be found on my page.
i wont promise it makes a difference, but it might!?

i am making progress. I can select the list in vob2audio and set the target but not the section in the middle. The start button does not work until all three sections (list, audiostream and target) are set up.
