how to play MPEG-4 V1, V2 or V3 in XP

Can sombody tell me how to play mpeg-4 v3 in XP.

In W98 it work's oke

I have downloaded all the codec's and it still don't work.

the machines i can speak for have tsunamis filterpack installed and ms v2 (the other were not used) encoded files run fine with XP

Try using WMP 6.4 (Run mplayer2.exe from your taskbar).

installing WMP 6.4 in windows XP is that asking for trouble?

I said nothing about installing a player into your computer and in fact, WMP 6.4 is already in XP (as it is on other M$ OS, like Win98, ME and 2K). WMP 6.4 has a file name of mplayer2.exe (in the folder x:\program files\windows media player, where x is your windows partition location). It's just that M$ has been touting and bragging about its shiniest and newest player, WMP 8, though WMP 6.4 has always been the better, more customisable player.

No worries. I somehow knew the player was there the first time I tried out XP.
