Please does anyone know what AC3 is and what it does and how it works please.

ac3 is dolby's audio coding 3rd generation format.
it is the standard audio format for dvd's and can be anything from a mono stream to surround 2.0 to digital 5.1.
the ac3 file can be extracted from dvd material and used as soundstream for mpeg4/avi files.
it is, however, fairly large compared to mp3 which can contain a surround 2.0 signal as well!

Wow some fast and good help here. I really didn't understand just what it meant, I just knew I could pull from programs a wav and a to a mp3 format at 48kh / 128bit/sec for DivX
But never understood just want it meant.
