Leaving Feedback At Ebay As A Seller

How do I leave negative feedback in somebody's account while I'm the seller? I managed to reply to his with his bad EBaying but my reply only shows in my account and not his. Every time I try and leave it in his I only get Positive and I will Leave Feedback Later and there's no Negative listed. I went in his profile and clicked on See All Feedback and Leave Feedback. I also tried Feedback As A Seller. Then I see a list of items that I bought and they have Positive, Neutral, Negative and I Will Leave Feedback Later and when I click on Sold, I see the items that somebody owes me money for and it only has Positive and I Will Leave Feedback Later. Why isn't Negative there? Even though I told my side of the story where it shows in my profile, I want people to know about him when they check his feedback in his profile. What happened was, he lied about making a payment and accused me of theft with abuse and I reported him for it.

I would ask EBay this question but now the weekend is here I won't hear from them until Monday.

    Many thanks.

Welcome to the "new" ebay system. As a seller, you can no longer leave neg. feedback. Only the buyer can leave neg.

Ebay implemented this system earlier this year. Beautiful, isn't it?

Last week I left somebody negative feedback for selling me fake goods and he sent me a load of garbage as negative and it appeared in my profile.

      Many thanks.

katz is right, a seller can no longer leave negative feedback, while they can say negative things in the space they can not put up a strike, or shouldn't be able to. This is why so many sellers have went to actually leaving feedback the moment you pay for the item.

If you are selling items with buy it now, then make sure you check the box that says immediate payment required, this way even if somebody tries to buy the item it will not leave the auction area until it is paid for. If you are auctioning items then make sure you put in a time frame you expect to paid within, and that you will report the item as unpaid after this time expires, eBay will shut down an account for unpaid items.

One last thing, when you are setting up the item you can also make sure that certain buyers can not purchase your item, such as low feedback numbers, an unpaid item in a certain amount of time, etc.

I know different people have different experiences on eBay, but in the years I have bought and sold there, I have never really had a problem, I have had a item or two that had to be refunded, but they went off without a hitch. I bought a battery that was old and the seller refunded my money and said keep the battery, the other time was when the PS3 was coming out, I actually purchased three and only wanted two, one of the sellers contacted me and wanted out of the deal (I got them all way cheaper than they sold for at the store) so I let him out and he refunded my money immediately, which was good for me because I really didn't want it and was going to have to re-sell it.

I forgot to mention, if that is the case, why am I only allowed to leave Postivite feedback to this member when I want to send Negative? I sold two PC games and the buyer isn't paying and he's pretending he has and he accused me for ripping him off. He also avoided answering important questions over the problem and there's too many strange things coming from his end.

          Many thanks.

Many thanks for the info. Where abouts is the option with the time frame? Do you mean how long an item will be on auction such as 10 days maximum as free mostly as Duration?

You would have to ask ebay why they changed the system. Many people are not pleased with it, but that's the way it is.

You need to open a case. I am in the opposite situation, I am in the process of contact the police and file a theft and fraud case against the individual. He is going to have a big surprise when the police come knocking at his door. But Ebay will not shut down an auction, I tried with 5 hours left and Ebay let the guy resell the item I paid for. Paypal told me that the cc co would not authorize the transaction and the cc co told me that the transaction never came through. I know that I should not have sent a money gram but I did.

Simple, it was due to fraudulant sellers.
I bought an item from a seller that advertised 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back, minus shipping.
I bought the item and paid for it immediately. This was on a Saturday. I spent the day preparing my workstation for the flat screen monitor I just bought.
During some researching, I found out this was not a true flat screen monitor, but one with a flat piece of glass....not what I wanted.
I contacted the seller on Sunday and explained to him the situation and apologized fir the misunderstanding, but I was not going to be satisfied, so I was contacting him to save him the shipping costs.
You see, this is one of those sellers that sells 4 of the 5 items for (example) $160 + $40 shipping, then he sells the 5th one listed as $200 w/ free shipping. I bought the free shipping listing.

Anyways, the guy was rather rude to me and said he would refund $160.. you can see where this is going now.
The seller sent me several emails containing some rather harsh names and comments. I politely replied to each one. However, he posted negative feedback on my account and then made a few false comments as well. There was nothing I could do and eBay would not lift the negative feedback due to the system at the time.
I tried to save the guy the shipping money, cause I knew he had not shipped it yet, I even offered to let him keep the listing fees, but none of that was acceptable to him because I called him on his 5th, all in one package, and therefore I was entitled to a full refund of $200. However, he only refunded me the $160. I contacted Paypal and sent the copies of the emails along with my replies. PayPal pulled the remainder out of his account and refunded me the full $200.

It's sellers like this that made the system change. I Buy and Sell om eBay. Selling is a risk we accept.

True, but lumping all sellers in a category like this isn't right, either.

That is why ebay has posted all over their site - "Caveat emptor"

There really isn't any one method that will please everyone, ufortunantly.

Problem is, with the way ebay has it set up, the seller has no recourse if they happen to be dealing with a jerk buyer. I sold an item awhile back, it arrived damaged from shipping.

It was fully insured, I wanted the buyer to go through the proper claim steps w/ fedex, but he threw such a stink about it, I just refunded him. Claims can take a month or longer to process, & most people don't want to wait.

It's a crappy system, but what re you going to do...

dazuk, no just write it in the description area, if not using buy it now, if you are using buy it now, like I stated, immediate payment required is an option with this type. If a regular bidding type auction is set up, then just put it very clearly in the description.

How can a buyer pretend he has paid, what kind of payment method did or do you accept?

Paypal is your friend, it should be the only way to buy and sell on eBay, I actually use it on almost every online purchase I make, because it is very dependable, at least in my experience. I do a lot of buying with it. As Bud has experienced they will try to always make the transaction correct to the best of their ability and knowledge.

Bud and katz are right, it is basically the exact reason that eBay changed the policy, plus the fact that many sellers when not upholding their end would put negative feedback on buyers that was not due them, this in return would cause them to either not be able to bid on certain items or their account be shut down. As katz stated, there is no way to please millions of buyers and sellers, so they have made it tougher on the sellers on purpose, to try and make it a better and safer buying area, whether or not this works, they try.

If you have problems, go thru the proper channels and keep a record of everything, always have the responses sent to your e-mail, and keep them until 30-45 days after the deal has completed.

I tried to leave negative feedback, but I was not allowed to. So I checked the positive feedback, and left a negative comment about the seller.

That's what I suggested dazuk to do, to check positive and leave a negative comment in the space, as this is what a lot of sellers do, it does work if it is read soon after the comment is left, but if it is a while after the auction, it doesn't have the same affect, because a lot of people scroll thru looking for the red strike, and then reading the comment.

The bottom line is, that it is sad that it has to be done that way. I have always been honest. My word is what I stand by. If you are not true to your word you can't be true to yourself either. If I say that I will do something for you I do it to the best of my ability.

I understand totally, and that would be a great world, but unfortunately we do not live in that world. Even reputable businesses turn bad, look at how many people right now are paying for two cars that only have one, or else defaulting on one payment to ruin their credit simply because they traded in a car to a "reputable dealership" on one of those pay off deals and the dealership turned around and sold the car, never paid it off, and went out of business.
