avi and codec match problem

HI guys

I have just upgraded to win xp, and now can't play back any avi movies.

I tried installing various codecs but no joy.

This is the information I have got from one movie using AVICODEC

It says it is mpeg layer 3
cinepak codec
mpeg 4 video codec (div3)
mpeg 4 video codec (div4)
mpeg 4 vki codec

I am totally new at all of this and have tried various codecs, but still it won't work.

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to the correct codecs.

What player are you using? Try WMP 6.4.

Ensure that you have installed DivX 3.11a and 4.12/5.02. The codec packs Nimo or Tsunami will have the ones that you need.
