How do I make my file size even smaller?

Well good news to all, I finally ripped my first DVD and got it down to a synced (audio and Video) AVI!!! I used Smart Ripper, DVD2AVI, VFAPI and the VirtualDub. In virtual dub, I used the lowest audio settings available with an MP3 file. I also used DIvx MPEG-4 Fast with 16-bit color. I achieved a file size of 525 MB.

Is there a way to make it even smaller. i understand that I will lose a bit of quality when doing this, but my purposes are for watching movies on my PocketPC when I travel.

I have also read taht you can make the image size smaller, maybe by clipping? Not sure.

Please let me know your advice.

    Thanks,
    Scotty O

To get a lower filesize, you have to select a lower bitrate (assuming that you are using a bitrate controlled mode). To make the image better quality at low bitrates, you might also want to use a lower resolution. This can be done either by zooming or cropping. To crop you can use the null filter in virtualdub, to zoom you should use the resize filter.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.
