    To 1SmellyFish

    "And just to add my 2 cents worth in
    The majority of DVD Captures i have seen have been of a very low standard when burnt to VCD with NERO, when comparing them to DVD's Ripped with TMPGEnc (when done correct)."

    I just wanted to express a friendly difference of opinion to you - I've done many captures from a standalone DVD player, using my ASUS V7100 combo board and ASUS Live Video (which conveniently eliminates Macrovision ;>} ). I capture NTSC DVDs at a full 720x480 (ASUS "compression", which the best I can tell, is UNcompressed) and audio as PCM 48,000Hz. The resultant file quality is absolutely indistinguishable from the DVD. I can then use this as my base for creating either (or both!) a DivX file or a VCD.

    By the way, I once dated a girl who could have appropriately gone by your screen name ;>}

    Hay Setarip,

    I do agree with you that you can achieve great results from DVD capture, but like most things in life there is a quick crappy way of capturing DVD's and Video's and there is the proper way (I dont have the hardware to do this so i dont know whats involved to the fullest extent).

    I have had a few passed onto me over the past year and the quality has been very average. The sound has been fine but the picture quality very blue and blured. But this has to do with the way it has been captured and the original media (allot have been from Video). I do have a few FANTASTIC captures of Videos i have that i wanted to back up to VCD that aren't and will probably never come out on DVD, but a friend did them for me and he takes his time and perfects the art of Capturing

    About your X-Girly Friend, i am glad she is your X now and your not still walking around with cotton wool stuffed up your nasal passages

    Cheers mate and thanks for the interest.

            No, you can't.

            You are quoting the remark of Mr. "1SmellyFish", who misspoke. His/Her comment should have been "...ripped AND THEN CONVERTED with TMPGEnc".

            Sorry if 1SmellyFish (I really do get a kick out of that screenname!) misled you. ;>}

              I am sorry if i did mislead anyone with my mistake. As Setarip did say, i should have said rip with your choise of ripping program (mine is Smart Ripper lately), split audio and video appart
              (I use DVD2AVI), THAN use TMPGEnc to convert the AVI to MPEG or what ever you want .

              Thanks Setarip for correcting me mate

              And i am still trying to work out the meaning of SeTaRip ?

              Cheers
