please help a newbie
I want to splice a particular section of a movie out and have it play, sound and all at my startup screen. Please let me know exactly what i need to do. Thank-you

What's the movie format?
For AVI use Virtual Dub
Load the file in VDub
Set Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy.
Use the slider to find the part you are looking for.
Push the key button to hit next keyframe
Push [Home]
Go forward until you hit the end of the part you want.
Keyframe again
Push [End]
Save AVI [F7]
TMPGEnc for Mpeg
Open the movie in TMPGEnc (Video source)
File---->Mpeg Tools
Merge & Cut
Add File
Select the file and push [Edit]
Move the slider to the section that you want
Push [{]
Go to the end of the section you want
Push [}] OK
Give the section a name on the output(*******.mpeg) and hit [Run]
