Flask mpeg tutorial?

Hello,I've used flask with the tutorial,found it very easy,except that right at the end,it left me hanging-

After ripping,I'm left with 2 files,an ac3 and an avi,what do I do with these now?

Also,when applying the codecs,the AUDIO preferences wont open,i.e,it cant be presssed,its blank? any help appreciated,thx.

You should have set "audio" to "Decode audio". that way, Flask would have A) allowed you to select the audio format you desire and B) rendered an already ,ultiplexed video and audio file.

Thx for the reply,that works,now,I have options of PCM,and 2 windows media codec's,any suggestions on codecs? whats good,bad ugly? I did read that PCM is a good option,but,what works well in practice?,thx again.

This is what I do when using Flask:

1) Convert to .AVI using Flask v.0.594PX3 (improved conversion time versus "plain vanilla" 0.594 - and less prone to lockup)
A) Using DivX v.3.11 codec (Fast Motion 910kbps, keyframe every 10 seconds)
B) Using PCM (uncompressed) audio at 48,000Khz (Maintains synchronization of audio and video)

2) Load .AVI into VirtualDub
A) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
B) Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
C) Under "Audio", click on "Conversion", select "44,100Khz"
D) Under "Audio", click on "Compression" select "MP3", "44,100Khz", "96Kbps"
E) Save revised .AVI with new filename

Hello again,I now see what u mean about plain vanilla,crash,crash
CRASH!,I hadnt had these probs untill I started using your suggestions,so obviously,its going to persist.So,a couple more q's for you,
I take it the current links to flask are all updated V's?

You use 3.11,I've installed this codec,yet,cant seem to locate it in the options box,I did howver use 4.11,which seemed to work very well,is this a good option,whats the best codec currently?

It wants between 9 and 15hrs to render depending on codec,is this normal? thx again.

That depends primarily upon the speed of your CPU. I'm guessing that yours is something less than 1Gigahertz...

Isn't this indicative of a successful conversion you did, using Flask?

OK,I closed all applications,and ran FLASK in solitary,I watched it for around 20 min on output,then went to bed,@ 161megs,it crashed...but,the output (through flask) looked great,absolutely no interleaving..
I'm nothing if not persistant...
Oh...500 mmx,*looks down in shame..
I must say,it is allready gratifying to see variations in output from input,such as closing all apps allows almost 2 FPS faster coding.

I'll try the update,and see where that leaves me,thx seta.

Bahh...this is hopeless,cant do anything without it crashing,the update is worse!...my system is fully updated..usually very stable...any suggestions? I really want to stay with this prog,as I looked at DVD2SVCD and its a nitemare!
