Hiya
I recently encountered something strange and 'orrible. I am not able to play any video. I keep getting the error in module <unknown>.
I tried WMP, Radlight, even Tmpgenc, quicktime. Any video player gives me the same error. I searched for possible solutions and only came across two other dudes in a forum which has since been downed (google cache) They actually reformatted and reinstalled with the same error.
I used a system recovery to reinstall win98, removed the divx 3.11 codec and reinstalled. Installed Nimo, divx alpha player. It ran for a day without problems then it started cropping up again. No matter what video codec was necessary. Indeo, divx, and some weirded out codecs. nothing runs. Audio files on the same programs run with no problems.
Any suggestions or ideas as to what may be the problem?
Before I reinstalled windows, I did come across a file called "unknown.ax" (i think the extension was ax) I deleted it. This allowed me to run a few video files before I got teh errors again.
I have tried the same videos on another system with no errors and pretty much the same copy of software (codecs, etc.) only its Windows 98 (not the second edition) whilst the error one is a SE.
Thanks in advance
