    virtualdub won't display video

    Hi ,

I just read the guide on cutting Divx files ...ultimately I want to burn a VCD to play on my DVD player.

I got a movie on a Divx file which I opened using Virtual Dub . However , virtualdub doesn't display any video but only plays the sound!

anyone know of what's going on ? I have tried this quite a few times with the same result

Post the "File information" of the problematic file. Does Virtualdub confront you with any error dialogue box?

Have you got the DivX 5 codec installed?

Maybe you should try installing a whole codec pack (NimoCodec Pack), that should install any codecs that you do or don't have, because since the audio plays and the video doesnt, it seems like a codec problem.
Does the avi file play in WMP or another movie viewing program?

yes it plays in Windows Media player and the normal Dix X player...

however , I upgraded ,my DivX player now (since the upgrade screen kept flashing up ) so now the video works in virtual Dub as well ..must have been to do with a couple of missing codecs
