DVD to DivX Rip problems in WinME

I am running WinME dual with Win2k. I haven't set up the DVD decoder or viewing software in 2k yet, so I am still using ME for the ripping. I have been trying to use GordianKnot 1.0 and DivX 5.02 to rip DVD's to put on CD's so I can watch them in my laptop on the road.
My questions are: Is anyone else having blue screen problems with gordian knot in WinME? Mainly when I try to do the Compressibility Check. Also, why doesn't the AutoCrop feature or the option to use DivX 5 show up? All I have is Smart Crop All for cropping and Divx 3 & 4 for the encoding.

Ok, so now I have tried it on my other computer running win98 and it still blue screens on the compressibility check. I have Divx 5 Pro loaded on the machine, but it still doesn't recognize it. I have left it to encode while at work, for the 6 hours it's going to take, at Divx 4 just to see what it will comes out to. Any help would be appreciated.
