    No Audio in DivX

    Hello All, I'm a newbie who just got a DVD-rom and am just getting into DVD ripping. I'm not much of a newbie to video conversion, because I convert alot of the files I download. anyway....

    I'm trying to rip the Bonus DVD that comes with the Believe Limited Edition album by Disturbed. I ripped the VOB files with SmartRipper, and PowerDVD plays them perfectly. Cept, whenever I try to convert them to DivX (using FLaskMPEG/DVD2AVI/EasyDivX) it always leaves out the audio. I've used the articles on Divx-Digest, and they still don't seem to work. I have 2 mp3 codecs on my system, the Lame codec and the Radium one. Any help would be appreciated.

    The audiostream is probably in LPCM format, which Flask is unable to process. for this situation, try using Mediator instead...

      Hey, Thanks! It was in LPCM format.

      How common is this format? Better yet, is there a way I can analyze the VOB to find out before spending countless hours converting it for nothing?

        "Hey, Thanks! It was in LPCM format."

        My pleasure ;>}

        Quite common for music DVDs. Just load one of the .VOBs into Mediator, then click on the "Audio Tracks" tab. If an audiostream is in LPCM format, it will be listed as such...

          Lol. I take it we are quite fond of Mediator?

          I downloaded it via Google search. Is the most recent version 1.5?

          I encountered a little problem while using Mediator tho....

          While it rips the LPCM audio flawlessly, the AVI it creates looks horrible. I tweak the configuration settings on the DivX 5.02 codec, and no matter how high I set the kbps, the output is incredibly blocky and low quality. What is it that I'm doing wrong????

          NOTE: This is the outcome with any and all of the programs I use, not just Mediator

            Nope. I only use it when it serves a specific purpose - such as dealing with an LPCM audiostream...

            Since the combination of your statements clearly indicates that your difficulty is ultimately with the DivX v.5.02 codec (and not Mediator), perhaps another poster can suggest appropriate settings for you, as I don't use that codec...

              What program did you use to create the video file?

                Well, I only use DivX 5 because its the newest. I am aware that DivX 3.11 and DivX 4 exist, and are still widely used. As I mentioned earlier, I'm a noob, and haven't developed a preference to any codec. You obviously use something else, and I'm willing to give yours a try if you are willing to teach me

                Thanks
