Need some help

I am trying to back up my VHS Movie collection onto DVDs.
I am new at this. I captured the movie (which was not copy protected) to my PC. Then I converted it to MP2. Then burned it to a DVD, when I tried to play it on my TV DVD player I got a no disc message. When I put it back in the PC I Could see that the MP2 files where there. So I think I missed a step somewhere. Please help me. On another note I was able to copy and play a DVD movie with no problem after a lot of reading. Thank You for your help . Vince.

The "no disc" you are recieving might be because of several reasons. You did not post the specific method which you created the mpeg-2 (svcd) therefor i can't help you there, but you should first check out this site and type in the exact name of your dvd player to see if it indeed is capable of playing the desired format (svcd), and if it can, try burning it on another brand of media; some dvd players are rather picky when it comes to what media it can play. Let us know how it goes
