Adding subtitles onto AVI

I managed to sync the subtitles using SubRip's time correct but how do i merge both files (AVI and .SRT) ?? I tried using SubMux but it didnt Mux the files like I want them to. I got only like 2 seconds of video and no audio from SubMux. Should it be used only with uncompressed AVi's? What program should I use to merge these two files into 1 AVI? The subtitle is in a .srt format
