    playing xvid

Hi, I am trying to play xvid encoded movies, without much success. I downloaded vidomi, which had a perfect picture, but the sound was faster than the picture, so after about 10 minutes of film the audio was a couple of seconds ahead of the picture. I then d/led the nimo codec pack and used mplayer, but the picture was really bad, as if the screen wasn't clearing when it was meant to, so a residual image was left behind. Any help or advice much appriciated.

    hmmk

Hi, sorry for wasting your time, I seem to have solved the problem, by installing the (official ?) xvid codec (http://trendprofi.bei.t-online.de/files/XviD-102002.exe) and uninstalling the nimo pack.

    Thanks for your time Jamie

You could try FFDShow as well, which can play DivX and XviD contents, and comes with post-processing settings and a number of other potentially useful filters.
