Fake files

I am reading a lot of things about fake Avi files. Is there anyway to spot them before i spend ages downloading them?

You could try previewing the movie before it finishes in the program that youre downloading it in - if it permits.

Tip: Dont get movies which have several different names when you look at their info.

Get Kazaa lite and use the AVI previewer if you can

and if the "DIVX" logo fades in on the buttom right corner and then fades out (and the rest of the screen is blank), it means that the file is faked?

just copy the partially dl-ed avi (1MB should do) to a different location and open it with VirtualDub (will reconstruct the missing index)-then go to file information

Not really... Unless of course the screen is blank throughout the WHOLE rest of the movie.
