Basically you can use some DVD authoring tool like Ulead DVD Movie Factory, TMPEGEnc DVD Author or WinDVD Creator.

What I do I get the avi files, I cut them into pieces with VirtualDub (for DVD menu), encode them to mpg with TMPEGEnc Plus, than I put everything in Ulead, create menus and everything else and than I create an iso file (from Ulead) or you can create directly the DVD file structure. With the ISO file it's easier because you can load it directly in Nero and burn.

The only problem not solved yet is how to add subtitles like an original DVD but in a simple way (there is a topic on this in DVD authoring forum but is much too complicated).

          All suggestions have their points.

          but I still recommend
using an *.avi --> *.mpeg conversion tool
before starting an DVD authoring tool!!

the authoring process speeds up al lot
and you have a closer grip on the movie quality.....

          I suggest using cinema craft!!
