    Use FFDShow instead.

It can decode DivX 3.11 contents, as well as DivX 4, DivX 5, XviD and other MPEG-4 compression formats. In addition, its decoding result is better than that of DivX 3.11 native decoder.

Download and install the program (by running the EXE).

Once done, go to Configuration -> Codecs, and select the types of compressions you want FFDShow to handle. Don't forget to go to Post-processing and enable the filters. It will help greatly with low- to medium-bitrate videos.

Once you have done as I wrote above, simply run (or double-click) the movie file that you are trying to view.

Let me know whether things are working out for you or not. Cheers.
