Will I need a mirror to watch those divx?

Hi, I sound new in this, cause I am. I've just started downloading some movies, but since I couldn't watch them all, I followed sombody's advice and use something called "The Playa" to watch them. Wrong! It renamed all vids extensions to DIV'X and everything seems upside down and like an image in a mirror. That means that this playa thing is not working, and when i try to use WMP or Power dvd, I have to use a mirror AND stand upside down!

What's wrong with it? What should I do? I'll apreciate any help.

    Thanks

Not a n00b movie watcher, but...

Are you sure you have the good codec installed on your PC? WMP can read almost all DiVx movies, when you applied the correct codec first.

Go to www.vcdhelp.com and check out the Tools section on the left bar.

Here's a quick link to the "How To" Play a movie from that site:

This website is for sale! dvdrhelp.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, dvdrhelp.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

Hope it will help you out...

P.S.: If your files are converted to the divx format, look on that website again, you might find the way to put it back on AVI.

    Good luck

Install FFDShow and try playing the file with either WMP 6.4 or BSPlayer

FFDShow is a codec for Xvid and DivX in the codec settings with FFDShow there is a "Flip Video" Setting. So no you won't have to turn your monitor upside down

If you are already using FFDShow as suggested (by simply downloading and configuring it to handle the various supported formats), try playing around with the brightness setting (e.g. Postprocessing >> Processing Method >> mplayer >> Level Fix >> Luminance + Full luma range).

it's not a codec, it is a playback filter. it can only decode certain files codec with certain codecs (Divx, Xvid, etc...)
                    too bad it can't encode...

I would describe it as an alternative decoder. One that really excels at the task.

And why would we need it as an encoder? We already have a lot of them around. FFDShow is already an excellent decoder and we do not need any unnecessary gimmicks for it.
