    I'm not saying wmv8/9 is a bad codec..but it's not the only one that can provide good results. and when I've to choose between a m$ product and an open-source project like xvid, that's quickly done.

      Thanks, according to the test some codecs that did good in first test, did bad in the second one. I'll wait for WMV 10 to see what's better

        In the mean time, I will continue using the open-source XviD codec and not bother with the current incarnation of WMV. I am not such a fanboy of M$ that I would wait for them to release the next (hopefully; anyone is entitled to hoping) improved WMV codec.
