    Dx50 problem

I've read alot about this on this forum and others but I still cant find a way around it,

I have an avi file that will play fine in any player but when I try to convert it in vdub I get
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format "DX50" (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."
and when I use TMPGEnc I just get a black screen,

I've tryed installing DivX codec v5.1, Tsunami pack, Nimo pack and changing the fourCC code from DX50 to Divx also I tryed usind Nandub with no luck.
When I check the properties of the file it says it has AngelPotion compression, I know there are problems with this but when I try DivX2Mp4 It says "codec unknown".

I would be greatfull of any suggestions.

    Thanks

If it's already an .AVI, to what are you trying to convert it using VirtualDub (which ONLY outputs .AVI files)?

I want to convert it to mpeg but TMPGEnc or any other mpeg encoder wont work, so I was going to convert it to an other avi with a different video codec and try that.

I can convert it to .wmv with windows movie maker "low quality" so I can't see how it won't convert to anything else.

      Thanks for the reply!

If it truly was created with the AngelPotion hack of the DivX v.3.11alpha codec (You've posted conflicting information), try changing the FOURCC to "DIV3"...

I deleted all my divx codecs and reinstalled Tsunami, then I changed the FOURCC to div3 and it worked.

Thanks for that mate I was trying to sort that out all day!
