    TMPGenc probs with sound!

Hi my problem beside being very old to be doing this is i have downloaded a film in DIVX format iv put it through TMPGenc, through the TMPGdvd Author but sound does not sync.
Ok iv read various ways of extracting the audio sepratley and in different formats ie wave with Virtualdub but still no luck, the original films audio is in perfect sync .
As you can gather this is my first project i would be very grateful if someone could help me out with some step by step instructions of how to crack this before it cracks me.

    1) Is it a commercial movie?

    2) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    3) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    4) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

        ah here ist the problem...

the audiocodec that has been used to create this file did
create an audio file that contains variable bitrate.....
Tmpeg is not able to process it correctly..... the thing we are trying to achive is
to convert the audio to a Tmpeg compliant format...

do the following ( I am referring to the newest version of virtual dub MOD)

using VirtualDubMOD to Convert "VBR" .MP3 to Uncompressed .WAV

        1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub) , ignore the message about VBR audio and hit NO....

        2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

        3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - and rightclick on the audio stream, then select "Full Processing Mode"
rightclick again on the audiostream, then in compression select
no compresion (PCM) then click on Demux and enter a filename with the wav suffix (e.g. terminator.wav) to save the audio.

        4) After the audio has been saved open streamlist --> streams again and click on disable

        5) Save with a new filename.

now you have a proper audiofile and a silent videofile that you can load into Tmpeg

if you do not have virtualdub MOD (( only virtual dub) btw ... go upgarade it)

the settings for audio can be found in the audio dropdown menu

the procedure ist almost analogical --> full proccesing mode--->
compression--> choose uncompressed (pcm) ---- file dropdown menue---> save wav---- >enter name

then ---> audiodropdown menue---> hit no audio---> fliedropdown menue--> save as avi , under a new filename

        good luck

          To shiny#3

          "Video stream
          Length:131496 frames[1:13:07.58]

          Audio stream
          Layout:131482 chunks"

I believe you are mistaken - as this would appear to indicate a CBR audiostream...

Where to start,i did explain that im a bit of a thickie and i appoligise for this i tried the new vertualdubmod that u kindly gave the link for obviously i used the newist version wich is 1.5.4.1 but the procedure u explaned worked up untill step 4 then i go back into streams>streamlist>disable then i presume savewave or have i wrong copy of vertualdubmod i ask because at bottom of page u say go to audio dropdown there is no audio dropdown tag.
i hope im not confusing u but i done wot i could but still no luck i think iv encoded this film about 12 times now with different audio settings i dont normally give up but i think im beat unless u guys can think of anyfink else, if not thanks for your time, i think i mabe a bit out of my depth with this its my first time and probly my last i ant got no hair left and the wifes moving out, ha if only!
