Need to edit audio, but it's worse...

I've looked endlessly aound the FAQ's everywhere, I've earched the messagebords, so, I figured I'll throw in the towel and ask for help.
I have a copy of a homeshot dvd, a concert bootleg if you will...the audio is slightly out of sync, and I am looking to even it up.
I have the disc ripped into VOBs
I also have it ripped into m2v/ac3
TMPEGnc Plus 2.5 doesn't open anything, it gives errors when trying to open the m2v (I have tied rnameing it mpg, mpeg, mp2, etc.) If I try to open the vob, it freezes.
Trying to use DVD2AVI...I open the vob it says it saves the avi, but it doesn't save it...
I read somewhere about using cool edit to edit the audio...but, that may be ahead of me at the moment.

ALso....Premeire doesn't even run on my machine.
Movie Maker 2 won't import the m2v, I get a "firing" error.

Can you click on the m2v and have it play? You may want to load it into VirtualDubMod and scan that video stream for errors.

Let's say I was starting from scratch and wanted to align the audio and video from the dvd....

Setarip just wrote a detailed proceedure of how to line up audio/video using VirtualDub in the thread by Thingy_me_bob. With MPEG2 (DVD) you need to use VirtualDubMod (and a couple of other nested programs) which can all be found in the download area. Once you have them installed, load your VOB, under video click "direct Stream copy", "scan for errors" and "file", "Save as avi"....if that hasn't corrected synch follow setarip's proceedure for lining audio/video up.

VirtualDubMod has no Audio drop down menu...
I loaed in the VOB and no sound on playback, no audio menu, nada...any additional help would surely enlighten me...

Download "AC3 Delay Corrector" from:

You'll also have to download "GFAWin23.OCX" (Put in same folder with "AC3 Delay Corrector") - Do a Googlesearch to locate this file for download


After adjusting the .AC3 delay, re-multiplex your .M2V and .AC3 streams...

These tools aren't allowing me to hear, though. I don't know the delay amount, so how do I put in the correct time?

Didn't you determine approximately HOW MUCH out of synch by listening and watching?

As with any such software tool, there's a certain amount of experimentation involved. Use you r best guesstimate, based on your "looking and listening", re-multiplex, play and observe. Adjust as necessary...

You say TMPGenc won't accept the m2v...have you tried to go to MPEGTools Simple Multiplex, select MPEG2 Program VBR and load the m2v in there? If it's accepted, enter the AC3 in audio source and multiplex them back together to get an MPEG2.

Well, I used the AC3 Delay Corrector, I guessed at -100ms delay on both ends, reauthored the m2v and ac3 with tmpeg author, and it is pretty damn close!
