    no audio?

Hi everybody, I've used Virtualdub to split an divx/avi file into 2 parts. The first part works as expected with sound etc, however the second section displays correctly, but there's no sound.
I followed the procedure outlined in the guides but I can't rectify the problem. The file (complete) has sound all the way through it, what am I missing??
    TIA,

    Glenn

I'm not sure. Try using a different splitter, such as AVIChop. It's not the best prog ever but it works for me!

    Good Luck!

Well, I was using 1.4.7, but reading through some earlier post I noticed that 1.4.8 seems to have rectified the audio problem.
I've cut a new cd and the sync rate seems ok.
I recorded it on WinOnCD in case it was the burning software.
Just trying to get the best combination at present.
I'll have to try it on the avi that gives me no sound on the second cd ..
          Thanx 4 the response ..

Let us know if the problem was indeed solved with the newest version of virtualDub (that would be a relieve )

Otherwise one more thing you can try is to cut it with Nandub (same procedure as VDub)

              virtuadub

The new version of Vituadub reported that I had an improper VBR audio encoding in the AVI, so that gives me a start. Any idea how I fix it?
I presume I'll have to split the files somehow sort the audio & then rejoin. I'll check through the previous posts, but advice always welcome.
              Many thanx,
              Sheortstuff

I have successfully used VDub 1.4.7 to split an .avi file into 3 parts without and loss of audio in any of the parts. I don't know what type of file you are trying to split but I know that you should split on a 'key frame'. I just place the slider bar to the appoximate place in the movie I want to split and then use the buttons in Vdub that have the key symbols on them to advance or go back to the closest key frame. If you didn't do that, try it and let us know if that worked for you.

Hi harley, yes I di try that, (I followed one of the guides) in the end it was encoded with bad audio. Version 1.4.8. of vdub actually tells you the audio is dodgy, & tries to correct it. however in my case that didn't work. so i got some great advice from setarip ( amongst others) to correct it manually.
That worked a treat. Thanx to all who contributed .. I've learne a lot (no doubt there's loads more to pick up
