    Cannot Advance/Rewind Movies

    Here's a question guys...
    I have a few mpeg movies that are over an hour long but only 80 something Mb. I imagine the way the compression was done has something to do with the fact that I cannot fast-forward them, or jump ahead in the movie. I must watch the whole thing or nothing. Is there a way to convert these movies to another format or something so that I can go forward and rewind?

    If they're MPEG1 format, you can load them into VirtualDub and (assuming you have the DivX codec installed) use the DivX codec to convert them to .AVI files, with keyframes every 10 seconds (default).
    One hour of video in 80Megs - hard to believe...

      1hr Movie

      Thanks for responding so soon...
      Yeah, hard to believe indeed...it crapped out after only 20 minutes or so, but is shows as being 1:22. I suppose I've got to pay for VirtualDub from somewhere?

        No, VirtualDub, a professional quality tool, is actually freeware. Just go to the DivXDigest site and download it.

        Let us know of your success ;>}
