    Question about MPEG2 format

I'm using TMPGEnc, I've got an MPEG file, but its quality isn't great compared with others of the same kind of length and file size. So I was wondering if I could compress it so it takes up less space and is quicker to transfer, in particular, I'd like to make an MPEG file with a lower frame per second rate.

Is it actually possible to have an MPEG with a lower frame rate than 23 fps? My source MPEG is fixed bitrate, making a variable bitrate one makes some difference to the size, reducing the resolution makes a lot of difference, but dropping the frame rate to even as low as 10 fps doesn't seem to make much difference at all.

    Thanks.

I read about this in one of Nicky's guides. From what I remember, you can reduce the framerate, however the size will not be decreased. Alternatively, you may want to convert the file to divx using Virtualdub to reduce the file size.
