    Rip Audio from DVD

I'm a newbie here and this question may have been answered but I could not find any threads that address this issue.

I would like to rip the audio (only) from a DVD.

I have made full backup (audio & video) copies of DVDs using Smart Ripper, DVD Decripter, DVD Shrink, ImgTool Burn & Nero 6. I just can't figure out how to get the audio only. I'd like to create a soundtrack from some of the movies I have.

In addition to the above programs, I do have Audacity and TMPGE Video Converter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Terry

One method would be to use MPEGMediator to extract the audiostream as .WAV...

      Thanks for the lead.

I searched for MPEGMediator on Google and downloaded a version. However, it only creates a full audio/video file - unless I'm doing something wrong with the software. I can create an AVI file with the entire movie and/or a small WAV file with a few minutes of music.

What I'm trying to do is to rip just the audio (ie, music) from a DVD.

      Anyone have any ideas?

From the "Start" dropdown menu of MPEGMediator, select "Extract audio to .WAV"

Thanks, but there is no START menu in this software.

There is a ACTION menu which has a EXTRACT AUDIO TO WAV. This is where I get only a small portion of the audio extracted to a file.

The ? | ABOUT menu tells me this is version 1.2. When I go to HOMEPAGE I'm directed to "http://www.mpeg-mediator.com/" which does not exist.

As I said, I searched on GOOGLE for this software and went to the first site listed which was "http://web.dadanini.com:7980/archiv/user/video/MPEGMediator/".

Maybe this isn't a current version. Is there somewhere to go to get the current version?

          Thanks.

Have you selected "All frames" from the dropdown menus?

This question makes me think that I don't have the right software.

There is no ALL FRAMES selection in any of the drop down menus.

Could you direct me to the site where I could download the software you're refering to?

              Thanks,

After doing some searching, I found a CONFIGURE PLUGIN in the PLUGINS menu.

The AUDIO CODEC was set to UNCOMPRESSED AUDIO. I changed it to MPEG Layer-3 (the only other setting) and set the AVAILABLE FORMATS to 56kBITS/s, 24,000 Hz, STEREO.

This seems to do the trick!

However, the HELP menu says this is version 1.2. Is there a newer version? If so , where can I get it?

                Thanks,

                    Thanks.

I couldn't figure out how to get the newer version to work (I am a newbie at this).

Since, I did figure out the earlier version (1.2) and it did export a WAV file, I'll stick with it.

Thanks again for all your help.
