Struggling to uninstall a codec pack - system restore won't work either

I'm sure other people must have asked something similar before, but I've not managed to find the answers when I searched.

Basically my machine is now a total mess of codecs. Nimo and Ace Mega Codec packs have been installed. Ace Mega Codec will not uninstall, it keeps generating errors.

System restore will not restore to any of my 20 earlier checkpoints !!!

I'm now left with over 100 video codecs and 50 odd audio codecs according to GSpot. Ages ago I used some agressive codec remover to achieve this, only I've totally forgotten what it was. I need something that will help me get rid of these. I really do not fancy having to remove all of these by hand. A windows re-install is also not high on my list

Any help will be appreciated, even if its just a web link to something useful. Thanks
