Can't play movie

I'm totally new to downloading movies and am looking for help!
I've downloaded a movie "13.Going.On.30.SVCD.TELESYNC-VideoCD1" and can't play it on Media player or DIVX 5.2 pro..
Is it a dodgy file or am i doing something stupid?
Is there any tips anyone can give on what files to avoid or what file to look for. I use winmx p2p and find it pretty good, is Kazaa better?
Any help from the experts would be usefull!
