    Basic question....

    Hi all,
I'm shopping for a digital video camera, my first. I don't have a DVD burner on my computer and I'm wondering if I can have a satisfactory experience with a digital video camera if I only have a CD-RW drive. I want to be able to play my videos on the DVD player and give copies to family. In the past we were able to play a VCD of something made on Microsoft Movie Maker and play it on the DVD plaer, but it took us quite a while to figure it out (including looking for dowloads to help us do it.) Anyway, sharing the videos is important to me and I'm wondering if I have what I need to do it.

    Thanks!

If you wish to use a CD format then yes you can do what you asked but with the newer camcorders today the DVD format makes memories so much nicer. PC burners are coming down in price every week so a burner may not be such a bad investment. Many of today camcorders output via "firewire" and making a home movie dvd is a very easy process.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that I could use my CD burner for now and later get a DVD burner later. I guess I could transfer my videos to the DVD when the time comes.
