avi play problems

im trying 2 play an avi file which plays and works fine for the first 20 seconds, but the video freezs and the sound continues.
ive tryed to more the slide bar accross and it dosnt bring the video up, the sound moves ahead to the correct place as well.
is there any way to fix this?
ive tryed useing video fixer but im not sure if its the right program for it.
also this is my first poast so im not quite sure where i should b asking this question.
