      Ok i see what happend when i ran the flash it just just installed the same version because it backed up my version first. When i open flash i see where it shoes 1.72 but when i try it just says

      Fail to update.

      *** NG ** NG ** NG ***

      Turn OFF PC and Reboot it.

      went to hp's site and it says.

      This HP firmware upgrade utility requires that your original cd-writer or dvd writer software be installed on your computer. Please reinstall your original cd or dvd writher software, and make sure HP recornow has been sucessfully installed.

      This dvd player did not come with my hp.

          Well i got this drive free guess this is why. called hp 24hour tech support got a lady that did not know what she was talking about told me to call back lol

          What is a good dvd burner to get? any suggestions?

          Looking for quality and not too pricy speed is no big deal for me heck this one only writes at 2.4x and it is plenty fast enough

            LOL I installed record now from hp site then the firmware installed fine so I am updated now omg.

              I like NEC - but LiteOn, Plextor, Pioneer, Aopen would also be working nice.
