    new problem after converting file

i have a problem after i convert the file to mpeg in TMPGEnc, it converted it but it lost the audio after i coverted it so im afraid if i burn it to vcd the sound will still not be there.

how can i fix this new problem that has come up and after i have a working mpeg version of this file which program should i use to burn it to vcd?

    thanx for any help

    1) Load the original (I presume) .AVI video file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into VirtualDub or (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

"Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)" is indicative of an .AC3 audiostream.

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to one greater than the highest priority of listed items. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

              1) Does TMPGEnc generate an error message?

              2) Do you have an .AC3 codec installed on your system? If not, do so...

ya i had ac3filter installed before i downloaded TMPGEnc, it was the codec thing that made the sound work on the file to begin with.

When i first download TMPGEnc the priority of DirectShow Multimedia File Reader is at -1 so as you said i change it to 1 which is higher then then next highest 0.
I open TMPGEnc and i go to Video-CD and click NTSC
Then i select the video file and it automatically puts the audio file as the same file i had for video
then the video type is set at Non-interlace
and the aspect ratio is 1:1 (VGA) (i didnt touch these 2 things)
then i go by the filter setting, click next, next again, select where i want the file to place it self (output file) then next again, it says that the file doesnt exsist do u wish to create one, i click yes
and then it starts to encode

maybe i there is a setting i need to adjust the only thing i changed is that priority thing u said too.

"it converted it but it lost the audio after i coverted it"

Perhaps this is a silly question but - How did you determine that "it lost the audio"?

Just for kicks and giggles, please do the following:

                    1) Load the MPEG file that you've created into VirtualDubMOD (Different than the standard VirtualDub)

                    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

                    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

                      ok, heres what happened

i got the file from a friend from a cd
i copied it onto my computer
the sound didnt work but the video did work
                      i downloaded ac3filter
the video worked as well as the audio
i tried to burn it to vcd through nero burning program
i put the cd in my dvd player, it loaded and just played video, no audio
then i came on here as suggested by a friend
asked what i had to do to get the dvd player to read the sound
i converted the file with TMPGEnc which made the file a mpeg
i played it in media player and divX player but the audio no longer worked

i will put the info u asked up on here when it converts again, i didnt keep the file cause it was useless.

There does NOT seem to be anything wrong or lacking regarding the audiostream of this MPEG-1 VideoCD file.

Perhaps your PC's MPEG audio codec (A Windows "builtin" component) has somehow been corrupted.

I'd suggest you now use NERO, set to "Video CD" (NOT "Super VideoCD") to burn a VCD - and then play it in your standolone DVD player...
