Hi,
I have some rather large MPEG video files (600-800MB each) that I want to convert to a different format for two reasons:
1) I want smaller files. These are not movies but lectures, and I don't need extra quality. I can live with 170MB files even with a bit of lost quality.
2) In Windows Media Player 10, I want to be able to play the new files in higher speed. For some reason this is not possible with the current MPEG files, I'm not sure why. (I hope you know what I'm talking about, it's that "Enhancement" that allows you to play files at speed ranging from x0.5 to x2 without "jumping frames".)
So which format should the new files be in, and what software can I use to make the conversion? I looked in the sticky thread at the top of this forum and nothing there seemed to discuss conversion *from* MPEG format.
I should note that I have similar files (that were made at the same studio) that are in WMV format, and those are both smaller and playable in WMP10 as I want.
Many thanks,
Chen
